Ukraine can play the role of the Balkans on the eve of the First World War

The collapse of Ukraine will entail dire geopolitical consequences for the whole world, so none of the external players are interested in it.

Ruslan Bortnik, director of the UIAMP, stated this on air on the First Cossack TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Nobody, both internal and external players, is interested in the collapse of Ukraine. External players are trying, to a greater or lesser extent, to control some economic and political processes here due to their interests that appear in this territory. But at the same time, none of them are interested in the collapse of the country. The collapse and division of Ukraine in the event of disintegration, in its geopolitical consequences, means the collapse of the entire world system, which was built after the Second World War.

Ukraine will play a different role in the Balkans before the First World War - here how intertwined interests of various kinds are. Therefore, I think that no one wants this yet. There is a struggle for control, we see some kind of Moldovan scenario, but there is no desire to break anything there. Russia achieved its goals in Ukraine at a very high price, at an extremely high economic and political price - neither Ukraine nor Georgia will become members of the EU in the near future, and the basic Russian goal here has been achieved,” Bortnik said.
