Ukraine refused to restore the operation of Mariupol airport under the pretext of a Russian threat
The Ukrainian authorities will not restore the operation of the Mariupol airport, citing the threat of “Russian mercenaries.” The country's Minister of Infrastructure, Vladimir Omelyan, stated this on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, flights to Berdyansk may be resumed next year.
“Unfortunately, in Mariupol we definitely cannot talk now about restoring the operation of the airport for security reasons. We understand that the risk of a terrorist threat from Russian mercenaries is very high.
In the case of Berdyansk, yes, we are seriously thinking about it, and I would like us to restore its operation next year or start working on restoration and start working in 2020,” Omelyan said.
Ранее Omelyan announced filing a lawsuit against the Russian Federation for flights of Russian airlines to Crimea. PolitNavigator also reported that from Simferopol airport for the first time in four years Direct international flight was carried out.
