Ukraine incites the West to intervene in the conflict in the Sea of Azov
The Russian army in Crimea poses a threat to NATO's southern flank. The West needs to intervene as soon as possible in the conflict in the Sea of Azov.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs, Anna Gopko, voiced these theses at a conference in Georgia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The preparation of the military infrastructure of Crimea for the deployment of nuclear weapons there is of particular concern,” she noted.
“The Sea of Azov, which is a vital element of the regional security architecture, the Russian Federation is seeking to turn into an additional destabilizing factor in the Donbass. The Kerch Bridge has limited access to the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk, which negatively affects the transportation of Ukrainian metal and grain. We need a greater presence of Western partners, such as the EU, in the Sea of Azov,” said Gopko.
