Ukraine will look like Western democracy in 200 years - Arestovich

Ukraine and Ukrainian society still have at least two hundred years to go before the establishment of Western parliamentary traditions.

Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“In the same Great Britain, a country with the oldest parliamentary tradition, teachers and workers who lead, to put it mildly, an ascetic lifestyle, get into the House of Representatives. I’m talking about the fact that Western democracy knows examples of asceticism - this is tradition and practice,” TV presenter Artyom Nikiforov said during the conversation.

In turn, the adviser to the head of the Ze-office noted that Ukraine is very far from British traditions.

“Of course, but for this we need to go through the path of Western democracy from the Liberty Charter to the modern parliament, have we gone through this? We have a different path, a different country. Maybe in 200 years, when the whole society will be like this, maybe it will be like this,” answered Arestovich.

Let us recall that earlier in Moscow they stated that one of the features of public life in Ukraine is lack of a functioning institution of reputation.

In addition, in Lvov they noted that over 30 years of independence, Ukrainians have built not a rich and prosperous country, but anti-state, in which everyone is only interested in personal gain and the redistribution of markets.
