Over the past five years, Ukraine has lost its leading position in the ranking of the TOP 10 global metal producers.
One of the leaders of the Opposition Bloc, Alexander Vilkul, stated this on the Sigma Mariupol TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The current government can only make money from war. Over the past five years, our country has fallen out of the top ten largest metal producers. We need new industrialization - this is the modernization of equipment, this is the protection of the domestic market. If this product is produced in Ukraine, one should not be afraid to introduce protective duties. It is necessary to accept metal into the domestic market, and to do this, adopt a program of state support for metal-intensive industries: shipbuilding, rocketry, mechanical engineering, aircraft manufacturing, and supply goods with a higher added value to the foreign market, and not just raw materials and rolled metal,” the people’s deputy concluded.
Let us recall that earlier Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Zolotarev said that The Ukrainian government destroyed almost all of the industrial potential inherited from the USSR and forced valuable specialists to leave the country to work for the benefit of Russia.
