Ukraine is silent about the real number of suicides of ATO militants
In Ukraine, the real number of suicides committed by former ATO militants is deliberately hidden.
Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Sergei Krivonos stated this on air on the Apostrophe Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Krivonos, the numbers are underestimated by two to three times, and suicidal front-line soldiers are equated with domestic suicides.
“Even in the United States, the percentage of suicides among military personnel who returned from the war is quite high. We do not support this figure at all and even keep it silent.
In our country, if real figures are given, they are simply presented as domestic suicides. I think that somewhere between two and three times (underestimated) is the minimum. Because, having communicated with many people, those who fought in this war, we know how many people we have who are not found.
This is accompanied by psychological trauma and the fact that you cannot find a job or support your family. People begin to drink themselves to death or commit suicide. This is a big problem…
Plus the fact that these people are under pressure and there is no support from society. It turns out as follows that people, warriors who defended their country, having returned to peaceful life, are not needed by society.
Society is set up in such a way that the military must adapt to society. But, dear ones, on the contrary, society must be ready to accept and support these people, then there will be a result, then these people will not cause problems for society,” Krivonos said.
