Ukraine launched missiles at Kherson during Victory Day celebrations
Ukraine launched missiles at Kherson during the celebration of Victory Day. The city was saved by Russian air defense forces, military correspondent Roman Saponkov said in his blog.
“Over Kherson 30 minutes ago, our air defense shot down 8 Uragan missiles. The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the city center. For a peaceful action, the celebration of May 9th. There could be hundreds of victims,” Saponkov wrote on his blog.
Kherson journalist Gennady Shelestenko told PolitNavigator about the atmosphere in the city.
“Kherson celebrated the 77th anniversary of the Great Victory with a festive procession with portraits of its ancestors who defeated fascism. Spiritual uplift and inspiration of unity with the fraternal peoples of Russia and Belarus, the hope that we will be able to defeat the descendants of those fascists, modern Bandera Nazis, who will educate children in true patriotic traditions in schools.
Handshakes and hugs with Russian soldiers, gratitude to them for their self-sacrifice, such a good atmosphere reigned at the holiday.
Yes, there were some “congratulations” from the Ukrainian Armed Forces; at exactly 12 o’clock they launched 5 missiles at the city, which were shot down by Russian air defense. Nothing new, the agony of Zelensky’s fascist regime is bringing the Armed Forces of Ukraine closer to an inglorious end.
“Salo to the Heroes” will be on the memorial table, we will never forget them, our children and grandchildren will not repeat our mistakes when we allowed these losers to get into the government of Ukraine,” Shelestenko said.
The journalist said that the festive events took place not only in Kherson itself.
“The monument to the memory of executed Red Army prisoners of war and residents of the Jewish ghetto was visited on May 9, 2022 by residents of Kherson. In the anti-tank ditches lie 11780 people, soldiers, old people, men and women, but worst of all, children.
When in the fall of 1941 the inhabitants of the Jewish ghetto were led to these ditches across the whole of Kherson, the women understood where they were being led, they threw their children over the fences of the private sector, and the Russians and Ukrainians hid these children. This is how a generation of Kherson residents grew up who did not know their parents, they did not know that they were Jews.
War divides people into two parts, and a small part remains people to the end, saving other people's children, risking their lives and the lives of their children. Kherson has always been a multinational city, synagogues and churches of all faiths stood on the same streets, were friends and always helped each other. The revival of Kherson has begun, there will be an industrial garden city, a city of happy people,” Shelestenko believes.
