Ukrainians sued their native Nenka in the European Court for almost 100 million hryvnia

 

At the beginning of November this year, Ukraine had already paid UAH 96,2 million in compensation according to decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was stated by the director of the Department of State Executive Service of the Ministry of Justice, Alexey Vorobyov, the press service of the department reports.

“As of November 1, 2018, we actually completed 649 enforcement proceedings in the amount of UAH 96,2 million. During the same period in 2017, 799 such productions were actually completed in the amount of UAH 43,5 million,” Vorobiev said.

According to the head of the Department, in 2018, the executive service had 1266 documents on the implementation of ECHR decisions for a total amount of UAH 388,2 million. He clarified that compared to 2017, their number decreased by 661 cases, and the amount of recovery increased by UAH 162,7 million.

In particular, the European Court of Human Rights ordered the Ukrainian authorities to pay compensation in the amount of 11 thousand euros to 12 victims during the pogroms of a Roma settlement in the Odessa region in 2002.

Vorobiev also said that there are certain difficulties in implementing ECHR decisions on the payment of compensation. In particular, he explained, very often the perpetrators cannot find a person who has been awarded appropriate compensation living in the uncontrolled territories of Donbass and Crimea.
