American bases will be located on the territory of Ukraine, but NATO will not conquer Ukrainian territories.
Deputy Head of the Institute of CIS Countries Vladimir Zharikhin stated this on the News-Front channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There will be no NATO bases on the territory of Ukraine. Because Ukraine will not be accepted into NATO, because according to the fifth point, it is necessary to recapture lost territories for Ukraine. I think the fate will be the same as that of Korea. That is, a military treaty with the United States and American military bases on the territory of Ukraine,” the expert said.
He emphasized that under such conditions, the American military would not need to fight for the Ukrainian state.
“After all, the Americans did not give any guarantees to South Korea that the North would win back. It’s the same here: there will be no guarantees, no points five of the NATO Charter. There will be an agreement under which American bases will be located there,” states Zharikhin.
He recalled that a similar situation has developed in Kosovo, where the largest American military base in Europe is located, but America is not waging war with Serbia.
“There is a closer precedent - Kosovo. Also, they were not accepted into NATO; the base is the largest in Europe. This is the future fate,” concluded guest Zharikhin.
