This was reported by the press service of the Baranovsky District Council.
“The Baranovsky District Court of the Zhytomyr Region sentenced a resident of the city of Novograd-Volynsky to 2 years and 8 months in prison, who, posing as a priest, robbed pensioners,” the report says.
During the Christmas holidays, a resident of the city of Novograd-Volynsky entered the houses of pensioners living in the village of Kamenny Brod and the village of Ozeryanka in the Baranivsky district, under the pretext of caroling. He introduced himself as a priest who came from Krakow, Poland.
“Taking advantage of their trust, the criminal found out whether they had money and where it was. After that he asked me to cook dinner for him. When the old people left the premises, the impostor stole the latter’s money,” the police clarified.
As it became known, the robber had previously been repeatedly convicted of mercenary crimes.
