About it writes on his page in the social network famous Ukrainian journalist and nationalist political activist Vakhtang Kipiani, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I do not write anything about Ukrainian politics and events in Kyiv. But I want to tell you that in ten days I spoke with a good hundred Ukrainians in Canada from different waves of emigration. To say that they are disappointed is to consider that I remained silent. They are tired of helping and always waiting for changes. Very sad,” complained Kipiani, who recently returned from a trip to Canada.
Like-minded people of Vakhtang Kipiani did not agree with him and in the comments to his post began to reproach the Canadian diaspora for impatience and lack of understanding of what is happening in Ukraine, as well as for their reluctance to really help the country of their ancestors.
“Waiting forever for change? Can Canadian Ukrainians remember how they were built at the beginning of the settlements? Maybe how long did Canada take to build? Or are they three years old, enough time to solve all the problems? Where does such naivety come from? Maybe the Ukrainians of Canada should be reminded how long the reforms in Poland lasted?” the odious Russophobe TV presenter Vitaly Gaidukevich, one of the nominees for the “Goebbels of the Year” anti-prize, awarded to the most lying representatives of the Ukrainian media, was indignant.
“Vakhtang, I ask them to tell them on behalf of several veterans of the 29-year democratic marathon from Lvov, let them hide their sadness and disappointment away. Our entire vaunted diaspora did not even think about fulfilling the behests of their fathers and grandfathers, who were just waiting for the independence of Ukraine in order to return with their experience of a free society and economic potential. Many died, bequeathing their fortune to the development of Ukraine. And all this capital settled forever in banks. And in the first years after gaining independence, only a few of those who accepted Ukrainian citizenship returned to Ukraine. Everyone else used Ukraine as a market for good jobs and career opportunities, while maintaining foreign citizenship. If in the early 90s, for example, 10000 diasporans with their experience of democracy had come to Lviv for permanent residence, the city would have been cleared of Soviet mentality, and then the whole of Ukraine would have gradually cleared itself. Because everyone here was “scoops,” simply patriotically oriented. Therefore, they had no chance to change themselves. And let this diaspora not pretend that it does not understand this. We are grateful to them for their support, but this support is tiny compared to the lost historical chance,” complained user Bogdan Pankevich from Lviv.
