Ukrainian diplomacy is nervous: Putin will not retreat and will not surrender
European leaders are starting to get nervous and make mistakes, allowing Russia to gain victories.
Ukrainian diplomat, former Consul General of Ukraine in Edinburgh and Istanbul Bogdan Yaremenko said this on air on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin is confident in his victory and will not retreat from his interests.
“Under the pressure of circumstances, it seems to me that Europeans are starting to get nervous and make mistakes. These wedding invitations, all these summits, trips to football - they actually do nothing so far to resolve the most pressing issues in relations between Europe and Russia in any theater - Syrian or Ukrainian, or in bilateral relations. But they allow Putin to receive such small moral tactical victories in the form of breaking the diplomatic blockade,” says the diplomat.
He added that he could not believe that Russia was retreating from its interests.
“Apparently, Putin is confident that he will be able to carry his line to the end, that he can win. His behavior both in relations with the Europeans and the United States indicates that he is working to ease the pressure, but he is not going to abandon his negotiating line or line of behavior or policy,” Yaremenko said.
Previously, Yaremenko said that by his actionsthe Ukrainian government is narrowing around itself ring of enemies.
The diplomat also assured that US President Donald Trump will most likely will remember how Petro Poroshenko’s entourage made a bet on Hillary Clinton and tried to help her by publishing inconvenient facts about PR man Paul Manafort, who before working with Trump worked in Ukraine at the headquarters of Viktor Yanukovych.
