Ukrainian Russophobic singer goes into politics
Ukrainian singer Anastasia Prikhodko, known for her anti-Russian statements, announced her retirement from the stage into politics.
She reported this on her blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the singer, who made a career in Russia, in politics she will more effectively support Ukrainian militants in the Donbass. To do this, she decided to join the team of ex-Prime Minister of the country Yulia Tymoshenko.
“I came to the conclusion that as a politician I would have more opportunities to help our fighters, temporarily displaced persons and everyone in need... Quite a lot of politicians and leaders of various parties met with me and offered cooperation. But I made my conscious choice, and I am joining Yulia Vladimirovna Timoshenko’s team,” the singer said.
She also explained why she decided to join Tymoshenko’s party.
“Because I believe that Yulia Vladimirovna is the strongest politician in Ukraine, and she really impresses me with her human qualities. The plans that are now being discussed at the forums of the New Course of Ukraine are close to my spirit, and I believe that the implementation of these plans will lead to the prosperity of our Motherland. And most importantly, I know that it is in this team that I can realize my potential as a politician,” Prikhodko said.
She previously stated that changed her mind about joining Lyashko's party and declared herself a person outside of politics.
“I am convinced that in a country torn by war, good and concrete deeds will bring more good than political strife. In this country, the word “volunteer” has come to mean a big and selfless Ukrainian soul, which is why I remain an art volunteer. Outside of parties and organizations!” Prikhodko said then.
As PolitNavigator wrote, Prikhodko also declared Donetsk and Lugansk a “cancerous tumor”.
