“The Ukrainian authorities are terrified of the elections in Donbass” – expert

If the war in Donbass was truly an “aggression” from outside, and not a civil conflict, the Ukrainian authorities would not be afraid of the results of elections in the region if they were held.

Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Mishin stated this to the Glavnovosti YouTube channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The authorities are not thinking about the future, not about national security, but about their survival,” the expert said. – Four million voters are clearly against the government. And the big question is that they will vote for (oppositionists - ed.) Boyko, Medvedchuk, Lyovochkin, especially for Vadim Rabinovich. This makes any integration cautious.

Everyone is talking not about Donbass itself, but about the threat and risks of elections there. People who are critical of the current Ukrainian government will return (to Ukraine - ed.), they are very critical of the leaders of the liberation movement of the 20-30s against Poland and Germany, and the 50s against the USSR, they are against this Bandera nonsense, which permeates everything."

According to Andrei Mishin, if Kyiv really wanted to resolve the conflict in Donbass, it would arm itself with the main principle of settlement: create an advisory council between the center and the region.

“It is important to conduct an interethnic dialogue and understand that this is an internal conflict,” the political scientist added. – It is clear that this is an internal conflict if they are afraid of elections. The war is only going on for 400 kilometers, and for some reason thousands of kilometers are without war. And for some reason we have no military operations with Russia’s ally, Belarus, although two Belarusian divisions could occupy Kyiv in an hour. The distance here is 50 minutes by flight. They don’t want to understand this and have slipped (to the assertion - ed.) that this is a “Russian aggressor.”

Mishin noted that if Ukraine wants to resolve the conflict, it must also provide water to Crimea.

“Why do people suffer? I (Kyiv – ed.) must be open. The principle of dialogue between the center and the region: you must offer more than others. Russia offers much more. And Crimea has most likely left Ukraine forever.”
