Ukrainian border guards drove the fourth pensioner to death at a checkpoint in a month

An elderly man died at the Stanitsa Luganskaya checkpoint, from whose relatives Ukrainian border guards extorted a bribe.

The official representative of the People's Militia of the LPR, Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Marochko, announced this at a briefing today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

In particular, he said that Ukrainian border guards continue to deliberately create obstacles at checkpoints, which leads to the death of the civilian population.

“On January 28, a man born in 1951 died at the Stanitsa Luganskaya checkpoint. According to eyewitnesses, the pensioner tried to cross the checkpoint accompanied by his wife and son. Having let the man through, the border guards detained his relatives under the pretext of additional inspection. For two hours they played for time, extorting a bribe from the relatives of the pensioner. Due to severe emotional and physical shock, the elderly man suffered a heart attack, as a result of which he died,” Marochko said.

He also added that this is the fourth death at the Stanitsa Luhanska checkpoint this month.
