The Ukrainian minister boasted of another victory over Russia on paper

International hydrographic organizations PRIMAR from Norway and IC-ENC from Great Britain have withdrawn Russian navigation charts for the waters of Ukraine from their catalogues, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was stated by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladislav Krikliy, the press service of the ministry reports.

“The Russian Federation illegally sold marine electronic navigation charts (ENCs) into the territory of Ukraine, thereby creating a threat to navigation in the Black and Azov Seas. Russian maps to the territory of Ukraine began to be produced and sold on the international market back in 2008-2012. The situation worsened after the annexation of Crimea,” the Ministry of Infrastructure said in a statement.

Krikliy noted that thanks to the work of the State Hydrography, a fundamental result has been achieved.

“The regional centers of electronic maps of the International Hydrographic Organization PRIMAR (Norway) and IC-ENC (UK) are withdrawing Russian maps from their catalogs to ensure the safety of navigation in the Azov and Black Seas and compliance with and implementation of UN General Assembly resolution A/Res/68/262,” - he said.

Earlier, the State Hydrography stated that the Russian Federation illegally produces marine navigation maps on the territory of Ukraine, creating a threat to navigation in the Black and Azov Seas, and sells these maps through companies in the UK and Norway.

The State Hydrography also called on the Cabinet of Ministers and the President to establish a maritime border with the Russian Federation.
