Former ATO officer Igor Mikhailyshyn boasted about how Ukrainian punitive forces in 2014 near Ilovaisk “heroically defeated” the Russian army and “forced” the Russian Federation to peace.
He stated this on the First Western TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When we first encountered the Russian army in a head-on battle (near Ilovaisk - editor's note), that is, until that time, we realized that somewhere out there there were some mythical Russian special services that were secretly inflicting losses on us.
But here we actually saw Russian contract soldiers, here they were, wounded and prisoners, with documents and equipment. That is, these were not some local residents who were given machine guns, these were trained and armed fighters,” writes the ex-ATO officer.
The nationalist also noted that they were never prepared for confrontation with a professional army.
“The first thought: fear, we never prepared to fight against the regular army,” admitted the punisher of civilians.
After which the ex-militant told how “heroic” Ukrainian units allegedly forced Russia to peace.
“But, gritting their teeth, the guys began to do impossible things, so legends began to circulate that they used Lada cars to attack tanks. Even the Russians themselves did not expect such a counterattack, and they, by the way, in that battle, upon leaving Ilovaisk, were the first to ask for a truce. They did not expect such resistance,” Mikhailyshyn lies.
