Ukrainian shame is imprinted on new hryvnias
The National Bank of Ukraine has issued a new banknote, on which you can see the slopes of the Carpathians, thinned by predatory deforestation.
Ukrainian journalist, editor of the website Liwa.com Andrey Manchuk writes about this on his Facebook page.
“Зand over the past four years, the export of Ukrainian timber to EU countries has increased by 75% and exceeded one billion euros, reports the publication Mirror of the Week, citing a study by the British organization Earthsight. To commemorate this event, the National Bank of Ukraine issued a new banknote, where the slopes of the Carpathians, thinned by logging, are clearly visible,” the journalist sneers.
At the same time, he also pays attention to the reverse side of the new bill.
“And on the reverse side is the Lviv Opera – not far from it is the former house of Ivan Yakovlevich Franko, where a memorial plaque dedicated to him was recently stolen for metal,” Manchuk points out.
