Ukrainian miners are owed 350 million hryvnia

The wage debt at state mines currently amounts to UAH 350 million; to pay it off, it is necessary to increase subsidies in the state budget, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The government of Volodymyr Groysman received mines with 18 billion (UAH) debt and 850 million UAH of wage arrears. Today, for two years and two months, the debt amounts to UAH 350 million,” he said, speaking at the Government Hour in parliament on Friday, the department’s press service reports.

Igor Nasalik clarified that in March 2014, the government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk accepted state mines with wage arrears of UAH 1,5 billion, although in previous years the level of budget subsidies reached $2 billion per year.

The minister noted that in 2018, the amount of subsidies to state-owned coal enterprises was reduced to UAH 900 million from UAH 2,6 billion.

At the same time, he recalled that the proposal to increase subsidies to coal miners had already failed twice in the Rada, and called on deputies to support it next week, on June 12.
