This was reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent with reference to the press service of the ministry.
“The dismissal of Balchun is the right step, although the dismissal itself should have taken place at the latest in June of this year based on the results of the corresponding report to the Government. Now the key thing is the complete replacement of the entire management team of Ukrzaliznytsia with a professional and truly independent one,” Omelyan’s statement is quoted as saying.
The minister recalled that the issue of changing the top management of Ukrzaliznytsia had been raised by him over the past 10 months, which finally happened.
He praised the work of law enforcement agencies in investigating the results of the activities of the management of Ukrzaliznytsia.
“Currently, the General Prosecutor’s Office and other law enforcement agencies are investigating about 90 criminal proceedings on facts of misappropriation, embezzlement, and seizure of property through abuse of official position. In addition, Balchun actually withdrew from his duties long before his dismissal,” Omelyan added.
Recall as “PolitNavigator” already reported, Today, the head of Ukrzaliznytsia Wojciech Balczun submitted his resignation, the government granted it. This happened despite the fact that on June 21, Ukrzaliznytsia automatically extended the contract with Balchun until June 9, 2019.
