Ukraine was urged to continue the policy of “not giving hands” towards the Moldovan president

Ukraine should not change its attitude towards the President of Moldova Igor Dodon if his Socialist Party creates a coalition and enters the government. In this case, the role of the president will no longer be purely nominal, as before, but the Ukrainian president does not have the right to forgive his colleague’s statements on Crimea.

The Ukrainian publication “European Truth” writes about this today, introducing new unexpected words into the Russian language, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“What to do if the “Dodon coalition” is created? In this case, Kyiv will face a difficult choice. But “European Pravda” has reason to insist: the policy of non-handholding towards the current President of Moldova must be maintained until he renounces his statements about “Russian Crimea,” the article says.

The Ukrainian publication considers the most likely coalition of the Moldovan socialists with the Democratic Party of oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc. According to European Pravda, this union will not be pro-Russian.

“Ukrainian diplomats have long heard about the preparation of such a coalition and received assurances from both sides: even with Dodon’s party in the government, Moldova will not become completely pro-Russian. And in official statements, the socialists emphasize that they do not plan to abandon the pro-European course. Including from the association with the EU,” the publication writes.

Let us remember that during his presidential election campaign, Dodon recognized the Russian status of Crimea. However, after his election, he stated that Moldova would not recognize Crimea as Russian, so as not to spoil relations with Ukraine.
