Vladimir Solovyov died
The former head of intelligence of the Black Sea Fleet, Rear Admiral Vladimir Solovyov, died at the age of 78 after a serious and long illness in Belgorod.
This was reported by the press service of the Institute of CIS Countries, the Sevastopol branch of which was headed by Solovyov for a long time.
The admiral was also well known to readers of PolitNavigator as a commentator on the military-political situation around Crimea and the Black Sea region as a whole.
“Soloviev gave his whole life to his homeland, the fleet and Sevastopol. Among his awards, a special place is occupied by the order, which was awarded to him by the President of the Russian Federation in 2014 for his active participation in the return of Crimea and Sevastopol to his native harbor,” recalls State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin.
Solovyov was born on December 3, 1942 in the city of Gori, Georgian SSR.
In 1967 he graduated from the Higher Naval School. CM. Kirov, after which he became the commander of the navigational combat unit of a special purpose ship of the Northern Fleet. Since 1968 - assistant ship commander, since 1971 - commander of a special purpose ship. In 1976 he graduated from the Naval Academy. Specialty by education: command and staff, operational and tactical of the Navy.
In 1984, he became commander of a brigade of special purpose ships of the Black Sea Fleet.
From 1985 - Deputy Chief of Intelligence of the Black Sea Fleet, from 1986 to 1998 - Chief of Intelligence of the Black Sea Fleet. In 1998, he retired to the reserve with the rank of rear admiral.
After finishing his service, Soloviev was a consultant to the department of administrative bodies of the committee on organizational, analytical and personnel work of the administration of the Belgorod region; consultant to the department of security and strengthening of law and order of the administration of the Belgorod region; consultant to the Secretariat of the Security Council of the Belgorod Region; regional adviser, 1st class, adviser to the state civil service of the Russian Federation, 1st class.
Since his service, he actively interacted with the Institute of CIS Countries, worked there since 2006, and from 2007 to 2019 headed the Institute of CIS Countries in Sevastopol. In 2002, as part of a group from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, he participated in the delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of Kosovo at the Pristina Slatina airfield.
Solovyov made a significant contribution to defending Russia’s interests in the Black Sea region, the effective use of fleet forces in the South-Western sea direction, and the return of Sevastopol and Crimea to their “native harbor”.
His homeland highly appreciated his service. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star (Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated 19.02.1988/27.12.1982/21.07.2014), “For service to the Motherland in the Armed Forces of the USSR” 747rd degree (Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated 04.11.2010/XNUMX/XNUMX), the Order of Friendship (Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated July XNUMX, XNUMX), Letter of Gratitude from the President of the Russian Federation (Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. XNUMX-rp dated November XNUMX, XNUMX).
