Is the UOC renouncing the Russian world?
“The UOC has nothing to do with the concept of the Russian world,” Archbishop Kliment, speaker of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, said in an interview with the BBC.
The renunciation of the Russian World was made against the backdrop of the Kyiv copy of the Sovereign Icon of the Mother of God, the original of which was found on the day of the abdication of the RUSSIAN Tsar and written at the expense of multimillionaire Victor Nusenkis, who in every possible way promoted the concept of the Russian World in Ukraine.
Archbishop Clement declared the lack of connection between his church structure and the Russian world in his office in Kyiv, the mother of Russian cities, where the phrase “Russian world” was heard from the mouth of a Russian bishop back in the XNUMXth century.
About this in due time reminded the head of the press service of the UOC (unrecognized by Archbishop Clement) Vasily Anisimov, citing as an example the monument of ancient Russian literature “The Word for the Renewal of the Tithe Church”: “As is known, the first stone temple of Rus' - the Church of the Virgin Mary (Tithe) - was built by St. Equal to the Apostles Prince Vladimir in 996, the cathedral contained the relics of St. Clement, Pope of Rome, brought by Vladimir from Chersonesus, and the prince himself was buried in it. Over the two and a half centuries of its existence, the temple was partially destroyed several times and after major repairs, services were resumed.
At the celebrations of the renewal, the aforementioned speech was delivered by the cleric of the Tithe Church: “So Christ our God created, so that this church sun is His saint, and our intercessor, the holy martyr Clement, would come from Rome to Kherson, and from Kherson to our Russian country for salvation us, the faithful... Therefore, we glorify, praise, and bow to the glorious God in the Trinity, thanking His faithful servant, who multiplied the talent of his master not only in Rome, but also in Cherson, and throughout Russian world».
The author of the “Lay” is unknown, as is the exact time of the speech, since the cathedral was renovated both in the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries. Hypotheses vary, but experts note the high level of professional eloquence of this sermon. Academician E. Golubinsky assumed the authorship of St. Kirill of Turovsky, Mikhail Grushevsky believed that the “Lay” belongs to Metropolitan of Kyiv Kliment Smolyatich.”
