The Duma demanded that Yandex, VK and Odnoklassniki remove Bandera music

Russian Internet platforms are very reluctant to respond to measures to combat enemy information influence, sabotaging the removal of prohibited content, and react only after a direct appeal from government officials.

This was stated by Russian State Duma deputy Dmitry Gusev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“When we adopted legislation on LGBT people, after some time we discovered that this legislation was not respected in marketplaces. And then I sent letters, other deputies asked to comply with the law. And they responded quickly enough and removed these products from their online shelves.

After that, we found the next thing - it turns out that on our marketplaces they sell Ukrainian goods, the profits from which go to finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine, that is, against our guys. We also asked them to remove them, and they also responded quickly enough and removed it voluntarily, although they could not have done so,” the deputy said.

He drew attention to another area - even now, many online music platforms host radical Ukrainian content.

“And now there’s a new story. And, taking this opportunity, I turn to marketplace companies. We discovered that on music marketplaces - Yandex.music, VK, OK - music is sold, or rather, available for download, calling for the killing of Russians and glorifying the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In the current conditions this is unacceptable. Today we will send them letters asking them to remove this music.

But one thing is clear to me - despite the fact that we constantly make requests, and companies always respond to them, this means some kind of gap in the legislation. This industry needs some kind of regulation,” Gusev added.
