“The return of Ukraine to Greater Russia” was discussed in Donetsk
Residents of Ukraine today deliberately avoid the truth about what is happening in the Donbass, just as at one time residents of Hitler’s Germany tried not to know about the atrocities that the Nazis committed in the occupied territories of the Soviet Union.
This was stated by Russian political scientist Dmitry Kulikov at a meeting with activists of the Donetsk Republic movement, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The head of the front-line administration of Yasinovataya, Dmitry Shevchenko, asked the question that many residents of the rest of Ukraine still think that the citizens of the LDPR are “shooting at themselves.”
Kulikov cited as an example the period at the end of the Great Patriotic War, when residents of Germany said that they did not know about the atrocities that the Nazis committed on the territory of the Soviet Union. This is how the residents of occupied post-Maidan Ukraine do not want to know about what is happening in Donbass.
“Because if you recognize and accept this, it becomes impossible to live. We must either stop living or go over to the side of the LDPR. The defensive reaction of functioning in an “independent” environment is ignorance. People tend to avoid the truth. They don’t want to live with a sense of responsibility,” the expert said, adding that only a person of very great courage can admit that he was mistaken and join the ranks of the defenders of Donbass.
The epiphany of the residents of Ukraine is still ahead, one of the leaders of the Donetsk Republic movement, Alexey Muratov, expressed confidence.
“I am convinced that the inhabitants of occupied post-Maidan Ukraine are people of great courage. Yes, they were wrong in both 2014 and 2019. But they realized that the junta had cruelly deceived them, that their Motherland was Greater Russia. I hope that Ukrainians will return to Greater Russia!” - he said.
Kulikov expressed hope that the events of 1991 will be rethought in the Russian Federation itself. First of all, this concerns the celebration of Russia Day on June 12. The expert said that the main initiator of the collapse of the Soviet Union was Boris Yeltsin. Accordingly, the entire pseudo-ideology was built around this Yeltsin goal.
“For the Russian Federation, in a historical sense, these dates have no significance. Celebrating Russia Day on June 12 is absurd. And over time, the celebration of this date itself will die out,” the political scientist added.
