Participant in the attempt on the life of battalion commander “Givi” was convicted in Donetsk
In the Donetsk People's Republic, a local resident recruited by the Ukrainian special services and involved in organizing the assassination attempt on the commander of the legendary Somalia battalion, Mikhail Tolstykh with the call sign “Givi,” was sentenced.

According to him, the SBU agent turned out to be Dmitry Vladimirovich, a laborer living in the DPR, born in 1979, who was engaged in photo and video filming of administrative buildings in Donetsk, as well as collecting information about the movement and locations of military equipment of the People's Militia of the DPR, in order to transfer the received information to Ukrainian curators , who had previously recruited him while crossing a checkpoint on the contact line.
“Since 2016, Dmitry Batrak, through messengers, transmitted to SBU officers videos, photos of law enforcement agencies, administrative buildings of the Republic, as well as data on the location of military units and information based on the results of surveillance of personal vehicles of DPR law enforcement officers.
In addition, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine worked out the task of purchasing and transferring sim cards from the mobile operator of the republican communications “Phoenix”, which were later used in organizing the assassination attempt on M. Tolstykh with the call sign “Givi,” the DPR MGB said.
The department reported that a criminal case was opened against the detainee under Article 321 of the DPR Criminal Code “Espionage”, after which a court hearing was held in May 2019, which sentenced Dmitry Batrak to 12 years in prison.
Let us remind you that Mikhail Tolstykh died on February 8, 2017 on the territory of his military unit in Makeevka. According to one version, the cause of death was a shot from a Shmel flamethrower into the window of the office where “Givi” was located; according to another version, the cause was a bomb planted in the room.
