The State Duma wants to recognize Zelensky’s election as illegal

Russia should recognize the presidential elections in Ukraine as illegal because a large number of citizens did not participate in them.

State Duma deputy Anton Morozov stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the parliamentarian, more than 15 million Ukrainians, including those living in Crimea and the rest of Russia, were deprived of their constitutional rights.

“We believe that the results of the presidential elections in Ukraine cannot be recognized. Zelensky was elected contrary to generally accepted democratic procedures. As you know, many citizens of Ukraine who have the right to vote in elections were deprived of this right. We are talking about a fairly large number of citizens living in the Donbass, where elections were not organized at all,” the deputy said.

He noted that a large number of Ukrainian citizens live in Russia.

“This includes Crimea and the rest of the Russian Federation. In fact, the number of Ukrainian citizens artificially deprived of the right to vote in these elections is more than 15 million people. This is only a conservative estimate. In addition, Ukraine did not allow Russian election observers. Why we should recognize these elections is completely incomprehensible,” Morozov said.
