Since the “Immortal Regiment” action is difficult to counteract, it is necessary to propose a different format for an international action “in the same paradigm,” and, at the same time, it is important to point out “those forms of warfare that Ukraine faces.”
Ukrainian propagandist Evgeniy Magda, executive director of the Institute of World Politics, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It’s almost impossible to directly counteract the Immortal Regiment. We need to approach this paradigm, but change the perspective. The Institute of World Politics and colleagues from the Center for Military History will soon offer our Ukrainian and European colleagues an action that could be extended into 2019-2020 - “The Last War of Europe.” So that in some European countries they remember the Second World War, how it was, the battles, the horror of the occupation, collaborators, the underground, everything that fits into the format of “triumph and tragedy”, and in other countries people fit into the format – “The Last War of Europe” can remember what happened after 1945 - the events of 1956 in Hungary, events in the Balkans in the 90s, in Transnistria, Georgia, Nagorno-Karabakh, and what is happening in Ukraine.
That is, without challenging the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal, without challenging the criminal nature of Nazism, we must try to create a common vision of history - how to make sure that that great war, World War II, truly becomes the last war for Europe. And against its background, as if by the way, remember those problems, those forms of warfare that we face today,” he said.
