In Kyiv, the conscription into the Armed Forces of Ukraine failed: only every tenth person showed up at the military registration and enlistment offices
In Kiev, as of November 5, 23 people of military age did not show up at the district conscription commissions, and the overall turnout of conscripts is less than 424%, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the military commissar of the Kyiv military commissariat, Colonel Sergei Klyavlin.
“As of November 5, 2018, in accordance with the plan, we recruited 39,5% into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the turnout of conscripts who must arrive at the recruiting stations of the district conscription commissions is extremely low. This figure is 8%,” said the military commissioner.
“That is, residents of the city of Kyiv did not apply to conscription stations and still do not apply. We are looking for them with the help of the National Police and only then delivering them to recruiting stations, where their suitability for compulsory military service is determined,” Klyavlin added.
In particular, he complained to company managers on this issue. According to him, those who receive summonses are fired retroactively from enterprises so as not to retain their jobs and not pay wages.
The military commissar also noted that educational institutions in which citizens have completed their studies and no longer have a deferment for conscription do not transmit data to the regional military registration and enlistment offices in full. To identify fake conscripts, military registration and enlistment office employees and the National Police check the dormitories where these conscripts lived.
In addition to conscription into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 346 residents of Kyiv were called up for military service under contract, 76 of them were women. 163 of them have the status of combatants and previously carried out missions during the ATO.
Conscription for conscript service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations will last from October 1 to December 30. It is expected that 17 thousand 960 citizens will be called up for military service, of which 744 are planned to be called up in Kyiv.
