Kiev is happy that Ukraine got rid of Saakashvili

Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who was recently arrested in Tbilisi, will face the law as a foreigner conducting subversive activities against order in Georgia.

Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on the YouTube channel “Politeka”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.

“Saakashvili was convicted in Georgia, he received 2 or 3 sentences there in absentia for 6 and 3 years. In general, in the aggregate it turns out that if the law is followed, he will have to serve 9 years in prison. Well, maybe they'll pardon me. Be that as it may, Georgia cannot release him so easily, there is a court decision, he must be justified somehow or something,” Suslov said.

“Moreover, he did not hide his goals. He said that his goal was to influence the course and outcome of elections in Georgia and to achieve the removal of the current party from power. At the same time, it is also useful to remember that he is deprived of Georgian citizenship, that is, in this case he acts as a foreigner who illegally, and even with subversive purposes, entered the territory of Georgia,” the ex-minister added.

At the same time, he noted that many in Ukraine breathed a sigh of relief due to Saakashvili’s departure to Georgia.

“I look at Ukrainian political circles this way: for them, Saakashvili’s departure caused more positive than negative emotions. Because he is a controversial and scandalous figure, because as a reformer he is absolutely ineffective. Because a lot of money is constantly spent on it for high salaries and office fees. Nobody has seen or seen effective reforms from Saakashvili. His experience as Odessa governor was more negative than positive. In Odessa, he and the results of his work were also perceived negatively,” said Suslov.
