In Kyiv, a competitor to the Russian "Raptor" was launched with fanfare - it will be sent to Azov
In Kyiv, at the Kuznya na Rybalskogo plant, owned by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the first landing assault boat of the Centaur project was launched. The ceremony was attended by military officials, including the Minister of Defense, the head of the Security Council, and representatives of the deputy corps, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Security Council Secretary Alexander Turchinov, the Centaur is as high-tech as its foreign counterparts, although it is built entirely on local technologies.
“I am grateful to our professionals who manufacture products that are in no way inferior to world analogues. This boat is no worse than the Russian Raptor, it is not inferior to boats of this class from NATO countries, it has powerful weapons, the ability to move at a speed of 40 knots, can land 36 marines and, importantly, a fairly powerful weapons system, missile weapons and combat modules, they have a stabilization system that allows you to accurately hit a target without reducing speed,” Turchynov said.
The Security Council speaker also emphasized that it is precisely with these boats that Ukraine intends to scare the Russian Federation in the Sea of Azov: “Strengthening the capabilities of our Armed Forces and Naval Forces to counter Russian aggression along the entire coast from the Black to the Azov Seas. Today’s event is one of the ways to implement the tasks set by the National Security and Defense Council.”
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine agreed on documents on the transfer of two Island-class patrol boats to Ukraine by the United States of America.
