In Kyiv they lament: Russian riot police are stronger than the Berkut

Russian law enforcement officers have no difficulty in detaining participants in unauthorized rallies by supporters of the arrested blogger Alexei Navalny.

The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in a commentary to the Kyiv magazine Novoye Vremya, stated by the Ukrainian showman, ex-candidate for mayor of Kyiv Sergei Pritula, who sponsors punitive forces and indignant that Ukrainians go to work in the Russian Federation.

According to him, the actions of the Navalnists should not be characterized as “mass protests.”

“Mass protests are when the broad masses are really involved in them. When in a city with 500-600 thousand people up to a thousand people come out, I would not consider it a mass protest. The same applies to multimillion-dollar Moscow, where a handful of people go out,” notes the publication’s interlocutor.

He says the Russian rallies left him with a “downright pathetic” impression.

“Because it is impossible to imagine that during the Maidan a group of five or six Berkut soldiers wedged into a crowd of Maidan protesters, snatched an individual out and took him to a paddy wagon - I have never seen anything like that. They would have been hushed up there right away. And in Russia we see a picture where riot police calmly pull a person out of the crowd, and the rest of the people in the crowd usually do not fight him off, but stand with their phones and shout: “Shame.” I think these protests will continue to take place in this vein in the future,” says Pritula.

Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, the Ukrainian diplomat called on the West not to believe Navalny.
