The President of Ukraine must introduce martial law in certain regions of the country, and the troops must be put on combat readiness.
The ex-representative of Ukraine at the negotiating group in Minsk, Roman Bessmertny, stated this on air on NV radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, Ukraine risks losing two more regions – Nikolaev and Kherson, because plans to create “Novorossiya” have not disappeared anywhere and yesterday’s events in the Kerch Strait can provoke this.
“The first thing that is needed is for the General Staff to put all troops on combat readiness. The second is to assemble the National Security and Defense Council, and not just its structural body. Third, the president should issue a decree introducing a legal regime of martial law in certain regions. After all, we are again talking about a threat to territorial integrity. Next is to convene an urgent meeting of parliament... We must protect our land and our sea, and all relevant actions are written in the laws and the Constitution,” Bessmerrtny said.
