The mining industry, as in Donbass, does not require intellectual labor, which has affected the formation of backward thinking in the region.
Dmitry Gromakov, head of research projects at the RAND Center, stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The research that has been and has been carried out, including with my participation, shows that the main base for propaganda influence is, first of all, the Soviet people who remained in these territories.
Due to the fact that Donbass was very complex from the point of view of social structure, because there, first of all, there was a mining industry, ferrous metallurgy, these industries do not require a lot of intellectual labor.
Therefore, the layer of intelligentsia to which we are accustomed, first of all, is in Western Ukraine or the industrial regions of Dnepropetrovsk, where production was more complex. In Donbass, such a layer is small, so there are problems with the formation of critical thinking,” Gromakov said.
