Joint exercises between the Army Corps and the Marine Corps of the Black Sea Fleet have started at the Crimean Opuk training ground. The military learns to repel enemy attacks and counter enemy landings.
As PolitNavigator was informed by the press service of the Black Sea Fleet, 100 units of military and special equipment are involved in the exercises, including T-72B3 tanks, BTR-80 and BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, large landing ships and naval aviation helicopters.
“The exercise is being conducted in preparation for the strategic command and staff exercise “Caucasus-2020”... At the initial stage, personnel moved to the areas of assembly and formation of attack groups. They will have to prepare and conduct a sea and airborne landing in order to capture and hold a favorable position.
As part of the exercises, artillery and missile firing will be carried out both by coastal artillery and ships, in turn, the involved units will perform live firing from all types of small arms, grenade launchers and weapons of combat vehicles. The exercises will end on August 30,” the statement said.
