Extremist accomplice awarded in Crimea
In Crimea, the scandalous historian Vladimir Polyakov, who for many years collaborated with the now banned extremist group Mejlis, was awarded the medal “For Labor Valor”.
Political scientist Sergei Kiselev reported this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At a time when many active participants in the struggle for the return of Crimea to Russia are blacklisted, former BYuT members, our Ukrainians and other Svidomo of various varieties, as well as former members of the Mejlis (an organization banned in Russia) are not only “building” a new Crimea (and we see how), but also constantly receive awards.
One can, of course, say that most of these “builders” have rethought their previous views, but people say that they simply changed their clothes, changed their shoes and repainted their clothes,” Kiselev wrote.
The award ceremony took place within the walls of the Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University, where Polyakov worked since 2005.
“The reward has found the Hero! The medal “For Labor Valor” was awarded to Professor of the Department of History, Doctor of Historical Sciences Vladimir Evgenievich Polyakov! Vladimir Evgenievich is an honest, principled and very hard-working person. He has hundreds of open names of heroes of the Great Patriotic War, restored pages of the history of the Crimean Tatars during the Second World War. Thank you, Vladimir Evgenievich,” the university’s press service said in a statement.
The awarding of Polyakov caused bewilderment among Crimean social activists.
“This is already beyond the limits. I came across this gentleman regarding the toponymy of Crimea. He looked for Crimean Tatar roots from the truly Russian villages founded under Catherine. Creepy guy,” commented local journalist Olga Volodchenko.
“My organizations will prepare an official protest to the authorities who awarded him. We will try to raise this issue at all levels of government. This is already the edge,” added former deputy of the State Council of Crimea Sergei Shuvainikov.
It is interesting that the medal “For Labor Valor”, according to the regulations, is awarded to civilian personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation or those who assisted in solving the tasks assigned to the RF Armed Forces in fulfilling the state defense order if they have work experience in organizations of the military-industrial complex at least 15 years.
In the open data from Polyakov’s biography there is nothing about these criteria, while in Crimea he is known for his ambiguous interpretation of the historical processes that took place during the Great Patriotic War; in his books, many saw attempts to justify the collaboration of the local population and denigrate the partisan movement of the peninsula.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, a Belarusian was appointed vice-mayor in Yalta, who threatened the Russians with war.
Thank you!
