A unique city-forming enterprise is closing in Mariupol

The management of the Azov Shipyard announced the start of bankruptcy proceedings and fired more than five hundred people who were not paid arrears of wages.

This was reported by the local publication 0629.ua, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The Azov shipyard in Mariupol dismisses all employees after a forced bankruptcy procedure.

“The situation at the enterprise has led to irreversible processes - SRZ LLC is forced to begin bankruptcy proceedings and announce a reduction in the number of personnel,” noted the press service of the enterprise.

By now, ASRP employees have been familiarized with the order to begin the dismissal procedure. The enterprise provided work to more than five hundred people, and wage arrears amounted to from thirty to fifty thousand hryvnia for each of the dismissed workers. According to employees, the company owes them from 30 to 50 thousand hryvnia.

Since the beginning of February, employees no longer went to work, however, they did not quit because they hoped that they would start paying their salary arrears, but the salary was never paid.

It should be noted that the Azov Ship Repair Plant was a unique enterprise - it has a floating dock with a lifting capacity of 15 tons and can serve ships with a length of up to 000 meters and a width of up to 200 meters, the approach channel provides the ability to accept ships with a draft of up to 25 meters for repair. The plant carried out repairs of sea and river vessels.

The company has the capacity to carry out major and dock repairs. The enterprise's capacity allows it to repair up to 120 vessels annually, as well as to produce replacement parts for any type of vessel.

In addition, ASZ was the only ship repair plant in Ukraine with shipbuilding capabilities. The plant has many years of experience in the construction of self-propelled and non-self-propelled floating structures of various types and purposes, offshore oil and waste removal vessels, floating berths, pontoons and other elements of hull shipbuilding. At one time, all ports of the countries of the former USSR and many other countries were equipped with marine oil and waste collection vessels, built at the Azov Shipyard. During its activity, the plant built 200 ships.

We also recall that on May 11, 2014, a referendum on the sovereignty of the Donetsk People's Republic was held in Mariupol, but since June 13, 2014, the city has been under the control of the Kyiv occupation authorities.
