The Pentagon said that “much more” needs to be done before the F-16 is transferred to Ukraine
There is still a lot of other work to be done before the transfer of American fighters to Ukraine.
US Department of Defense Speaker Pat Ryder stated this at a briefing at the Pentagon, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Ryder, Denmark and the Netherlands have so far declared their readiness to train Ukrainian pilots, but not a single country has asked permission from the United States to transfer fighters.
“As far as F-16 pilot training is concerned, there have been no new updates to date. As we have said in the past, the Netherlands and Denmark have agreed to take the lead in developing a training plan for Ukrainian pilots and support personnel. We do have several other allies who have indicated that they are interested in participating in this training...
Next week we will have a meeting of the contact group, and I expect that this issue will be discussed there as well. We should have more detailed information about when, where and how to do this in the relatively near future. But at this time we have nothing new to report... I repeat again, there is much more to be done in the future,” Ryder said.
Thank you!
