Panic begins in the Rada: “We will be left without billions from Russian transit!”

In the near future, Ukraine may lose billions of dollars in revenue from the transit of Russian gas through its territory.

Former Minister of Energy Yuriy Boyko stated this at a meeting of the Conciliation Council of faction leaders and chairmen of committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I’m not even talking about those victorious reports, when for two years we heard that we were energy independent and got off the gas needle, but as soon as the crisis began, children were no longer allowed to go to school because there was nothing to heat it with.

The point is not even this, but the fact that against the backdrop of the completion of the transit contract in a year and a half, a conflict is unfolding in the gas sector. Without resolving the issue at trilateral negotiations within the European Commission, the Russian Federation and us, there is a great danger that the GTS will not work after the completion of the contract.

It’s good that there is an appeal from parliament to oppose the construction of Nord Stream, but there must be substantive negotiations between these parties in order for the transit contract to be continued and the country not to lose 50 thousand jobs and $2,5 billion in annual gas transit revenues,” – said the ex-minister.
