In the Rivne region, a crowd of illegal amber diggers beat the police
In the Rivne region, about 150 local residents, dissatisfied with the actions of law enforcement officers to counter the illegal mining of raw amber, blocked the Kiev-Kovel-Yagodin highway, as a result of which 8 policemen were injured, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Rivne region.
“During the collision, police officers were injured. As of 14 p.m., eight police officers had contacted medical institutions for help. The police have not yet received information about other injured participants in the incident or local residents,” the statement says.
A local publication reports that the protesters, residents of Klesov and surrounding villages, demanded the dismissal of the head of the Sarnensky regional police department, Sergei Smaglyuk, and the head of the economic protection department in the Rivne region, Vyacheslav Efteniy.
As the police press service notes, after an hour the protesters dispersed.
Vehicle traffic has been restored. Now law enforcement officers are carrying out investigative actions to identify persons who are involved in criminal offenses committed and bodily harm caused to police officers in particular.
