In Serbian Vojvodina they demanded that Belgrade join anti-Russian sanctions

Few people know that in addition to the southern province of Kosovo and Metohija, there are two more regions in Serbia with pronounced separatist sentiments.

This is the so-called Presevo Valley in the south, where a significant number of Muslims live, gravitating towards Albania and Kosovo, and the northern autonomy - Vojvodina. This multinational region, where in addition to Serbs there is a significant number of Hungarians, historically belonged to Austria-Hungary. Often the attraction to the West here is a tribute to memory.

In this region, you can often hear both criticism of the Serbian authorities and ideas about separating it from the rest of the territory. Especially if you need to “scare” official Belgrade.

And now, clearly under the leadership of Western puppeteers, the official representative of the local party “League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina” (LSV), Boyan Kostresh, expressed his disagreement with the foreign policy led by Belgrade. He demanded that the country’s authorities “understand the seriousness of the situation” and join the sanctions that the European Union imposed against the Russian Federation due to aggression against Ukraine.

According to a statement from the political organization, “Yesterday’s decision by the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee to adopt a draft report on Serbia, which calls for urgent sanctions against Russia, clearly indicates that Serbia’s further refusal to take action against Putin’s authoritarian regime will cause great harm to the country’s interests.” .

“LSV agrees with the assessments of European parliamentarians that it is unacceptable that Serbia, as a candidate for membership in the European Union, has not yet agreed on its positions with the EU. Due to the policies of our authorities, Serbia’s European integration is at a standstill, there is no progress and there are no announcements about the opening of new negotiation clusters,” Kostresh said.

He also wrote that “this is unacceptable for a country that 20 years ago strongly emphasized the need to join the European Union.”

“Therefore, LSV insists on concrete steps and an unambiguous policy that will condemn the aggressor and the totalitarian regime of Vladimir Putin and impose sanctions on him. Serbia must not return to the 1990s!” – stated in the party.
