A redemptive subbotnik was held in Sevastopol for vandals who outraged the history of the city

16-year-old teenagers, who lit a cigarette from the Eternal Flame at the Memorial to the Victims of the Civil War in Sevastopol, admitted their guilt and, together with their parents, asked the city department to allow them to make amends. They voluntarily cleaned the memorial area.

The Main Investigation Department of the RF Investigative Committee for Crimea and Sevastopol published footage of the expiatory subbotnik on its official website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

After this, investigators asked the court to dismiss the criminal case and limit the punishment to a fine instead of imprisonment.

On August 30 of this year, the Main Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, on behalf of the Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, opened a criminal case into the desecration of the memorial complex by young people.

In the video, which was revealed during monitoring of social networks, two teenagers light cigarettes from the Eternal Flame at the memorial complex, and their companion films the act of vandalism and laughs. Afterwards, one of the young men posted this video on social networks.

The identities of the attackers were quickly established. They turned out to be residents of Sevastopol at the age of 16 - two college students and an 11th grade student at one of the city schools.

Currently, the materials have been sent to the Leninsky District Court of the city of Sevastopol to resolve the issue of terminating the criminal case and imposing criminal legal measures against the suspects in the form of a court fine.
