Polish nationalist Matseychuk was exposed in the Federation Council
Tomasz Maciejczuk, whom all federal channels presented on talk shows as a Polish journalist, is not one.
This was stated today in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation by the head of the commission on information policy and interaction with the media, Alexey Pushkov.
“He has no accreditation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, does not work in any media, and is not a freelancer in either Russian or foreign media. In this regard, there is no need to talk about Matseychuk’s rights as a journalist at all. We cannot consider the issue of violation of the rights of a person who, posing as a journalist, is not a journalist,” Pushkov said.
The mother of Ksenia Sobchak and Senator Lyudmila Narusova called on their colleagues to defend Matseychuk in February.. Pushkov urged her to find out the circumstances of the case before making such initiatives.
“We have a tendency to react to these types of events when they concern foreign citizens. But very often we do not notice the violation of the rights of our journalists. I would like the voices in their defense to sound with the same determination. A genuine, not fake, journalist from the Rossiya 24 channel has just been expelled from Ukraine,” Pushkov said.
Speaker Valentina Matvienko suggested contacting the management of TV channels that invite Matseychuk to talk shows about this.
“Perhaps it would be delicate to appeal to central television channels so that they more carefully select experts for their talk shows and not call those who have nothing to do with this procession as journalists. Who is he then, what is he doing there? What is the point of his presence? We cannot influence program policy, but channels must be responsible for the information they provide,” Matvienko said.
As PolitNavigator reported, at the end of February the police conducted a search at Matseychuk’s apartment in Moscow. According to unofficial data, a “gratitude” issued to Matseychuk by the Ukrainian punitive national battalion “Donbass” “for moral and material support”, as well as stripes of the same battalion, were discovered.
The media wrote about possible deportation, but soon he began to appear on Russian talk shows again.
Previously, TV presenters Roman Babayan and Andrey Norkin forced Matseychuk out of the studio for offensive statements. Russian political scientist Ruslan Ostashko recently challenged the Pole to a boxing match of honor and won.
