Free meals for Chernobyl children have been canceled in Ukrainian schools
Children affected by the Chernobyl disaster will no longer be fed free of charge in educational institutions of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in bill No. 6230 “On amendments to the Law “On the status and social protection of citizens affected by the Chernobyl disaster” (regarding the payment of monetary compensation for free meals for children)”, which on Tuesday, April 17, the Verkhovna Rada adopted as basis.
It is noted that instead of free food, compensation will be paid. In this case, the amount of payments will be calculated in accordance with the physiological standards of the Ministry of Health, which contribute to the removal of radionuclides from the body.
Thus, students of general education and vocational educational institutions, students of colleges and technical schools (schools) located in areas of radioactive contamination, as well as children with disabilities due to the Chernobyl disaster, are paid monetary compensation for the cost of food according to medical standards.
