All postmen in a Ukrainian city quit at once
All postmen of the city of Pochaiv in the Ternopil region simultaneously wrote letters of resignation due to the lack of significant changes in working conditions, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Ukrinform agency reports this.
“The bosses warned us in advance that from December 1 there will be changes in work - they will add one day off, but as I delivered pensions and letters, I will do it, I’m just already doing it faster, but I’m not a machine, I walk everywhere, to every corner you have to go in, it’s difficult, and the salary will be less. That's why the girls and I wrote statements. But while we’re working, we’ll see, maybe something will change,” one of the Pochaev postmen told the agency’s correspondent, not wanting to give her last name.
The situation was commented on by the director of the Ternopil Directorate of Ukrposhta, Lyubov Grinchishin.
“Given the fact that the State Enterprise “Ukrposhta” does not have additional funds from the budget, optimization processes are characteristic here, as in other areas, taking into account the economic feasibility of activities that would not bring losses or inconvenience to customers. As for the Pochaev branch, from December 1 the workload on the 9 postmen who work there was studied and revised. They were offered one additional day off per week. This, I emphasize, was done after recalculating the load on each postman,” Grinchyshyn said.
According to her, she was in the department and personally communicated with the employees who wrote their resignation letters.
“The fact is that the current optimization is not final. We can return to the previous work schedule at any time, but, I emphasize, this will happen only when the circumstances regarding the workload on the postman change. Yes, the statements have been written, but people can take them away, they can change their decision after the next communication with the team, which we will hold in the near future,” added Lyubov Grinchishin, director of the Ternopil Directorate of Ukrposhta.
Now the post office in Pochaev is operating as usual; the postmen who submitted their resignations are still performing their duties.
