Washington began blackmailing the Nazarbayev family to tear Kazakhstan away from Russia
In the US Congress, deputy Benny Thompson unexpectedly accused Elbasy's son-in-law (leader of the Kazakh nation Nazarbayev) Timur Kulibayev of corruption. He is allegedly pocketing millions of dollars to build a gas pipeline from Kazakhstan to China, and Washington must take immediate action to crack down on corruption. The reason for the scandal was an article in The Financial Times, which alleged that the middle son-in-law and the most powerful person in Kazakhstan after Nazarbayev received $53 million in personal profit from the construction of a section of an international gas pipeline.
It is noteworthy that the publication was published last year, and only in May of this year did American congressmen suddenly become concerned about the problems of corruption in the distant former Central Asian republic, which decided to sell gas to the PRC.

The article contains information about leaked documents indicating that the son-in-law of the former president of Kazakhstan, Timur Kulibayev, has masterminded a scheme that will result in him receiving tens of millions of dollars in contracts related to a multi-billion dollar gas pipeline between Central Asia and China,” Benny Thompson pompously stated in Congress.

But judging by the text of the congressman’s speech, Nazarbayev’s middle son-in-law has long been under the surveillance of Western intelligence services, and many of the properties that he acquired in the EU countries, Great Britain and the United States were exposed.
“This is not the first time Timur Kulibayev has attracted the attention of the West. In 2007, it was revealed that he was the mystery buyer of the multimillion-dollar Sunninghill Park estate, which the Queen gave to Prince Andrew as a wedding gift. He also faced money laundering charges in a Swiss case that was eventually dropped,” the US congressman noted on this occasion.
And what’s interesting is that it turns out that law enforcement agencies in Western countries are already taking action to use the collected materials to seize his real estate properties and accounts in various banks and offshore zones. It must be borne in mind that Timur Kulibayev is not just a son-in-law, but in fact the holder of the Nazarbayevs’ treasury and family assets, which amount to tens of billions of dollars around the world.
In addition, in a situation where Nazarbayev has not gone anywhere and heads the constitutional Security Council, being a super-arbiter in the ruling elite, Timur Kulibayev is actually the second person in the country. Therefore, all the attacks of the Western intelligence services are now concentrated on his personality.
Elbasy’s eldest daughter Dariga Nazarbayeva was already compromised by scandals in which British intelligence services took part at the instigation of their American colleagues, when her property in Foggy Albion was seized last year. And now they have decided to apply the same technology to the “prince of oil,” as many call him inside Kazakhstan.

Washington is simply now trying to use this scandal to hit the Khan family harder and thus force it to distance itself from Moscow and Beijing. And we must assume that this is only the beginning of a massive campaign to discredit close relatives and freeze their accounts in various jurisdictions. Thus, they want to make Nur-Sultan more accommodating on the issues of revising the plans and pace of integration processes within the EAEU and providing new preferential opportunities for American business and military presence in the republic.
This is also evidenced by the statement of Akezhan Kazhegeldin, the former Nazarbayev Prime Minister, who participated in mass privatization in the interests of Western companies, who long ago received the status of a political refugee, and is now a consultant for the White House in relation to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and other republics of the region. So, he declared that he would wage an active campaign to expose the financial fraud of Timur Kulibayev.
Thus, “opposition” forces are mobilized abroad, which are under the control of Western intelligence services, to cause reputational damage to the ruling elite and make public the facts of multibillion-dollar thefts. It is noteworthy that the Nazarbayev family itself is exposing itself to the lenses of the European media through its actions. Thus, a scandal related to the suicide of a Swiss cardiologist who owed money to Elbasy’s youngest daughter Aliya Nazarbayeva to the company was widely heard.

But the main weapon of blackmail for Washington is the notorious fight against corruption among elites from the former Soviet republics, which should discipline them all and put them on a short leash. Otherwise, all their wealth will be confiscated and used to promote “democracy”. Congressman Benny Thompson spoke about this openly in his closing remarks.
“The fight against corruption is an imperative for the United States. As a beacon of freedom and the rule of law, it is our duty and the purest expression of our values. It is also a very practical form of soft power that contributes to our national security. As Kazakhstan seeks to become a strategic partner of the United States, I urge my colleagues to join me in calling on the Biden Administration to address this case of kleptocracy and corruption of officials from Kazakhstan and assure that it will be included in our government's discussions of this important part of the world,” the lawmaker said.
Previously, I have repeatedly written that the West can easily manipulate the policies of the leadership of Kazakhstan, since it has in its hands the “Kashchei’s egg”, where that very needle is stored in the form of real estate and withdrawn capital. The freezing of Timur Kulibayev's assets means that he may, through his lawyers, try to find common ground with the US administration. If not, the pressure will continue.
But there is already the first evidence that the ruling family in Nur-Sultan is already bending. This is manifested in the fact that the Kazakh airline Air Astana joined the campaign against Alexander Lukashenko and canceled flights to Minsk. This is understandable, since 49% of the shares of the national air carrier belong to the British and the company is headed by a subject of the Queen of England.
In addition, Dauren Abaev, who oversees ideology in the presidential administration of Kazakhstan, has already stated that the world has allegedly moved away from the confrontation between two ideologies - communism and fascism. And this is a clear nod to the EU, which seeks to equate Hitler’s Nazism and the Soviet system.

For the people of Kazakhstan, in the end, according to the official, only one patriotism remains, based on respect for the language and their own national history.
The latter can generally be regarded as support for nationalists, since the ideology of national superiority is established at the head of the monoethnic state being built. The creation of the Organization of Turkic States at the summit in Turkestan at the end of March last year, on Nazarbayev’s initiative, should be viewed in the same light.
The strengthening of the positions of the American military in the Republic of Kazakhstan is even more alarming, which makes sense in devoting a separate article. One way or another, soon we will witness the final geopolitical choice of the ruling Kazakh elite, which is no longer physically able to sit on two or three chairs at the same time. Washington itself is no longer allowing it to do this, as it wants to finally acquire Kazakhstan into its own hands as both a colony, a training ground and a springboard for conducting aggressive actions against Russia and China.
