Ukraine has nothing to oppose to the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation in the event of a military clash.
Viktor Savinov, former deputy general producer of the STB channel, stated this in an interview with Kraina magazine, answering the question of what Ukraine can oppose to Russia in the event of blocking of ports.
According to him, the reason for the current situation was Kyiv’s lack of a concept for a fleet, which “is needed not only for dominance at sea, but also for maintaining power in its territorial waters.”
“At the Nikolaev shipyard The rotten cruiser “Ukraine” is already standing. The second most powerful ship that humanity has created. 27 years ago we received it with 94 percent readiness. The cruiser “Moskva” was nearby – 85 percent of readiness. Now it is the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. But we couldn’t use the same one correctly because we didn’t have a fleet concept. If the cruiser “Ukraine” sailed now (sic. – Ed.) from Odessa, the questions would have disappeared by themselves,” said the publication’s interlocutor.
He also stated that the Russians have 27 ships in the Black Sea.
“We can only oppose the cruiser Priluki (actually a missile boat. - Ed.), which has two missiles and one broken launcher on board. That is, the entire Ukrainian fleet is capable of launching one missile. Having access to two reservoirs, we never controlled them,” Savinov laments.
