Kazakh authorities have opened a case against a Russian radio presenter for supporting Russia's operation in Ukraine
The host of the Europe Plus Kazakhstan radio station, Lyubov Panova, was forced to resign after she threatened local nationalists on social networks with the intervention of “Uncle Vova.”
A criminal case was opened against Panova under the same article under which he was convicted twice convicted Russophile Ermek Taychibekov.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the reason for online harassment of presenter Panova was her public support for Russia’s operation in Ukraine. After which, Kazakh nationalists began attacking her online with accusations and insults.
“There will be a lot of people here, we’ll call Uncle Vova for help, it’s better not to open your poisonous and nationalistic mouth!” the woman answered the local Russophobes.
This short phrase became the reason for the dismissal and criminal prosecution of the presenter.
“The radio station “Europe Plus Kazakhstan” declares that the position expressed by our employee Lyubov Panova in her personal accounts on social networks has nothing to do with the policy of our radio station,” the woman hastened to make a statement at her place of work. - Information policy of “Europe Plus Kazakhstan” “is built on such unshakable values as internationalism, sovereignty and well-being of Kazakhstan.”
According to Panova, she decided to resign on her own so as not to undermine the radio station.
“The Almaty City Police Department informs that the Investigation Department of the Police Department has registered a criminal case on this fact in the unified register of pre-trial investigation on the grounds of a crime under Article 174 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Inciting hatred - ed.). Relevant examinations have been appointed, based on the results of which a final procedural decision will be made,” the Almaty Police Department said.
A well-known lawyer who dealt with the case of Russophile Ermek Taychibekov undertook to defend the Russian citizen of this country, who was subjected to persecution by Russophobes and nationalists, as well as persecution by the ethnocratic regime of Kazakhstan - Galym Nurpeisov.
“I believe that Lyuba has her own opinion, her own attitude to what is happening, and if someone tries to interpret this as inciting hatred, I perceive these actions as an attempt to aggravate relations here between people of different views and nationalities.
There is absolutely no criminal offense in her case, Lyuba and I have talked, she will now resolve some of her issues, after which we will officially conclude an agreement and I will defend her,” the lawyer commented on the situation to PolitNavigator.
Let us recall that earlier, Ermek Taychibekov, a supporter of the reunification of Russia and Kazakhstan, a fighter for the rights of Russians and other small peoples of the country, was twice convicted under a similar article, serving a ten-year sentence for publicly expressing his own opinion.
