The authorities of the Kherson region did not inform people about emissions of sulfur dioxide

The Kherson region suffered from emissions of sulfur dioxide at the Crimean Titan plant, as did the city of Armyansk, located on the peninsula. But if in Crimea the authorities began evacuating people from the affected area, then in the Kherson village of Preobrazhenskoye they are only dreaming about it.

As social activist Gennady Sivak told PolitNavigator, residents of the village bordering Crimea faced the same problems as in Armyansk - their trees had dried up, and everything metal was covered with mucus and rust. At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities do not care about their problems.

“People are walking quietly on the street, the authorities are not informing them, and no evacuation is taking place. That is, if our authorities have organized a headquarters and are doing something, then in the Kherson region residents will have no place to wait for help. The local population reports the same symptoms as Crimeans - itchy mouth, watery eyes. It was all because of the wind, it was blowing that way, so they got into the affected area,” Sivak said.

The problem, in his opinion, could be solved by resuming the water supply through the North Crimean Canal, since the measures taken by the Crimean authorities to transfer water from the Karkinitsky Bay will not soon lead to results: “They are now taking samples in the Karkinitsky Gulf, but this is sea water. If it fits, they will use it. But in any case, localization will take several months. First you need to lay the pipes, plus they will have a certain capacity; it will take several months to fill the reservoirs. But the problem could be solved much faster if the Ukrainian authorities opened the dam to prevent this disaster. So far there has been no reaction in this regard.”

Today the government of Crimea made a decision remove all children from Armyansk and place them in sanatoriums until the situation stabilizes, and also stop the work of the Titan plant.

Как reported “PolitNavigator”, the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov, after almost two weeks, named the reason why residents of Armyansk have difficulty breathing and their skin becomes covered with red spots. “Tonight, due to a change in the weather, with a drop in night temperature and, accordingly, an increase in daytime temperature, the maximum permissible concentration of sulfur dioxide exceeded the norm for the first time,” Aksenov said today in an official statement.
