The authorities confirmed the transfer of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra to Istanbul
The Kiev Pechersk Lavra, from the territory of which the Kiev regime is today expelling monks of the canonical UOC, will most likely be transferred to the schismatic OCU, subordinate to Istanbul.
Such plans were announced by the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Alexander Tkachenko on the air of the US State Department-funded resource Radio Liberty, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As of last summer, there were also two temples on the territory of the Upper Lavra - the Refectory Church and the Assumption Cathedral - in the use of the UOC-MP. These agreements terminated on December 31 last year. And, as you know, Epiphanius held a service there at Christmas. I think this is a more than understandable position. Everything is possible. I think that religious life should continue in the Lavra in any case, but the state should manage such objects,” Tkachenko said.
He also complained that so far representatives of the regime have not received access to the territory of the Lavra:
“Let’s first return this facility to state management. Although all the necessary legal decisions have been made, we do not yet have physical access to these objects. As soon as we have this access and receive the necessary requests from the OCU, we will consider them.”
